Clique Talk - Demos, cdr, 2007 / Clique Talk, cdr, 2008

Recently I've been obsessed with a new jam called "Hell is Other People" but that's been blogged about soooo...I met JD Chrome when I first moved to Chicago but didn't get to seem 'em perform fer over a year. Since then I've been consistently dancing my ass off at clubs or lofts, inebrieated, sober, or alone all over Chicago. Some of my less flexible friends used to scoff it off as "New Order/Cure" imitators but there's more sinister and EBM influences. Whoever said, "grinding out a niche in the weirdo/dance/noise market" is gettin it kinda close or at least explains to me that why what I think is normal apparently isn't to others. Clique Talk is JD Chrome, J. Drumm, and Brian Other. You can catch them playing around Chicago as Clique Talk, djing, or as a stripped down duo called Valis.

a few notes on their badassery:

1. One time I came over to hang out and J. Drumm was busy mixing a chopped & screwed mix of pitch shifted dirty female rap, so it sounded like husky black men begging to get fucked.

2. then we watched some of starcrash and introduced me to the joys of italian trash cinema.

3. Instructed me on the way of the brass monkey, and has schoooooled me on music over many.

4. Rideknighter, on their self-titled explains what would happen if Michael Knight and KITT got hooked on heroin. "KITT's blacked out, he needs his fix as bad as you."

5. Blossom, in which religion is compared to anal fisting, also off S/T.

6. They were squatting and recording for what had to be over a year in a foreclosed house in pilsen moving around as they had to eventually steal power from the empty top floor...damn i forgot to ask about buying off some of their comic books...

(both cdrs have various covers)
Demos got sludgy digital effects, synthesizers, bass, guitar, drum machines, and processed vocals. The S/T is slicker and more sampled based. Both highly recommended for yer next necromatic dance ritual.

NECRONOMICON, I'M THEE ONLY ONE.

DON'T REPENT YET, YER BETTER OFF WITHOUT IT

ONO - Sycamore Trees, Live at Camp Bell, 2010

Recorded May 22, 2010
on handheld cassette in Gage Park. I was looking forward to their performance of this song for weeks. So much so that after all the bbqing and camping out at Camp Bell that afternoon...I sat really close after this song and ruined the rest of the tape. DON'T JUDGE ME THIS IS SO AWESOME! YOU'VE SEEN FIRE WALK WITH ME RRRIGHT?

"ONO was founded in 1980 and originally rehearsed weekly in a basement on the South Side near the "PILL HILL" area. ONO shared the space with End Result. Their first show was at the original EXIT on Wells with Special Affect( Frankie Fun & Al Jorgenson) and Naked Raygun (Jeff and Mark-O, Santiago, Camillo and Jim). The original line-up of the band in 1980 was Hallene Kathy Brooks: Vocals ,Percussion and Recitations; travis: Vocals, Dobro, Steel Guitar, Bass, Percussion and Keyboards Marc Berrand-Vocals and Guitar P. Michael Grego-Vocals and Guitar, Bass, Percussion and Keyboards. In early 1981 is was travis: Vocals, Dobro/Steel guitar, Bass, Percussion and Keyboards; Ric Graham: Vocals and Guitar, Bass, Sax-Trumpet and Synthesizer/Computers; Shannon Rose Riley: Sax-Bass, Percussion and Keyboards; P. Michael: Vocals and Guitar, Bass, Percussion and Keyboards. A pair of albums were released on the THERMIDOR record label out of San Fransisco: 1982's "MACHINES THAT KILL PEOPLE," and 1986's, "ENNUI." travis and P.Michael are still involved in live performance as ONO, however Ric Graham maintains the sound and visual archives and is retired from live performance. Current ONO line-up is travis, P. Michael, Rebecca Pavlatos, and Jesse Thomas. They have now released a cassette along with Piss Piss Piss Moan Moan Moan (2010) and perform all over the Chicago area." - HISTORY from ono1980.com

That bio isn't entirely correct. Dawei of Suckling Pigs has recently been lending his guitar attacks to their weirdo mix. If you dig on this, ONO has several shows coming up listed on their website. I'd also recommend checking out some of their live archive circa 1981-1986.

I'LL SEE YOU UNDER THE TREES

Thee Majesty - Live In Chicago, 2010

HAPPY ALL SAINTS DAY

Recorded March 4th, 2010
@ CIMMfest, St. Paul Cultural Center, Chicago, Illinois
on my shitty iphone...sooo thee quality ov this is abonimable. These are thee only tracks I found ov tolerable quality. I'm not sure if I'm going to be asked to take this down or not, so be deft. If yer unfamiliar with Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, ubu has a long interview with he/r.

"Thee Majesty began in 1998 as a spoken word project, originally founded by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge of Psychic TV and Bryin Dall of 4th Sign of the Apocalypse, A Murder of Angels and Dream Into Dust. Featuring P-Orridge, Thee Majesty is made up of a revolving group of members including Morrison Edley of PTV3 and The Toilet Boys. Thee Majesty’s music is a mix of spoken word performance art against Dall’s free-flowing guitar rhythms.

LIVE PERFORMANCES by Thee Majesty are uncommon, but CIMMfest will be host to a special OPENING NIGHT presentation, following the Chicago premiere of a yet to be disclosed documentary, featuring Genesis Breyer P-Orridge..." taken from Thee Majesty's myspace blog.

For this incarnation, Thee Majesty is:
Genesis P-Orridge
Bryin Dall
Morrison Edley

Bomb Banks - Space Opera Vol. 1, cdr, 2010

The third offering of supernatural sounds from Chicago's Bomb Banks. Distorted song spells for the secret revolution. Greasy rides through spying toxic skies. I think my favorite part are the sounds of Bruno(space-pirate-queen) putting on the suit to power the Sex-Powered-Space-Vehicle...but really the libretto says it all:

PLAY LOUD

note: If possible, adjust EQ to emphasize Mid-frequencies. Low settings for Highest & Lowest frequencies.
